Orlando Sentinel: Are masks muzzles or the keys to freedom?

Aside from the discomfort of wearing a mask, the optics of wearing a mask appear unnatural, and the loss of normalcy can feel like a loss of liberty. To some, the mask has become emblematic of constraint — a loss of freedom. However, as a physician, I say masks protect our liberty, because it offers control that you can exercise. There is no liberty in being intubated or attached to a ventilator; there is no autonomy being in a medically induced coma. (Full article)
